Thanks SGT (Join to see) for sharing a short video by Navy Cross recipient USMC Lt Gen retired George Ronald Christmas focused on the battle of Hue City during the TET offensive of January 1968
George Ronald Christmas talks about Battle of Hue City
"The Battle of Hue City was a difficult lesson in urban operations for U.S. forces during the Vietnam War. It lasted 26 days and cost more than 200 American lives, making it the longest and deadliest major engagement of the Tet Offensive. Retired Marine Lt. Gen. Ron Christmas fought in that battle as a 28-year old captain and was awarded the Navy Cross and Purple Heart for his valor in the fight. Our ground combat reporter Todd South caught up with Christmas at the National Museum of the Marine Corps in Quantico, Virginia, to talk with him about the battle and what it taught the Army and Marine Corps about urban operations."

Outstanding history lesson. Face it, the US wasn't prepared for urban warfare during Vietnam. It took Desert Storm for US to start getting serious about urban warfare and we are still learning to this day.

Ya, obviously Berlin and West Germany would be prepared. Point I was trying to make is urban warfare was not a priority for the US Army during Vietnam era.

Unfortunately, that is true. I did urban warfare training in Berlin. One of the best trainings I participated in. Sgt Wayne Wood
