This is one area where I think POTUS Obama is showing consistency SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL. HE has pushed for women to be in every possible military occupational specialty. If women are going to serve in every billet including close combat then it makes perfect sense that each and every woman should register for the draft between 18 and 26 years old just each young man who is a citizen does.
Hopefully, after he leaves office, the next administration will reassess the goal of pushing women into every possible bit.
Background: I was part of the first Military Service Academy class which integrated women into USMA.
That efforts had the full backing of Congress, military leadership and resources and much planning. Yet the best laid plans of mice and men often go array. The current efforts are not nearly as well thought out as they were in the 1970s.

I'm all for it, if for no other reason then women have an equal responsibility to this country as men. Of course I also think mandatory federal service of some kind is a good idea.

MSG (Join to see) I completely agree. I also support the idea of requiring involvement in some kind of giving back to the community in the form of volunteerism. Like to drive? Volunteers needed. Good listener? Volunteers needed. Impassioned speaker or writer? Needed.

this is going to be interesting ... the problem is the Mall rat and Vally girls and thin skinned and easily offended average american women will put up with it...
it will take a special type of woman and one who is not scared of getting her hands dirty and braking a fingernail and can live with out social media and avoid going to the mall 2-3 times or more a week and not running for her safe place ...
... I am Not saying they are not out there but you will never be able to draft the rest of them... because those who are not scared to work will enlist before being drafted...

I lived in Southern California at 2 points in my life. Once as a blond and once not. I have spent a lot of time in malls, people watching is great entertain. This is an important topic. I believe all sexes should be required to register for the draft. Of course there will be exemptions. Nothing (except nothing) is absolute. Often I was the only female in the unit. And I was not a nurse til after my military career. It took becoming a mother of a daughter with non military friends to learn the finer points of makeup and polish. I am now too weak to cut my own nails but what do you think?
To you who think that a nail salon is only a frivolous way to spend, I found that it is inexpensive therapy and often the only contact some people have to discuss their fears and joys with. $20 for an hour of therapy. Undocumented, available in just about every town. What the nail technians hear and connect would surprise many. The discussions and topics are as diverse as RP.
