When I went to my school mailbox this morning I had quite a surprise. A former student whom I had three years ago sent me a note from Parris Island, SC. When he was in my class his hair was down to his shoulders. Last spring the came by to see me with his hair cut like a recruit. I barely recognized him! He wanted to show me a photo. It was of him and the USMC recruiter. (He had long hair in the photo). Anyways, he is getting ready to finish up boot camp and earn the title of United States Marine. Joseph said he was going to live up to his promise of coming to see me at school when after he graduates.

It gave me a great feeling inside knowing that he was following in my footsteps. He said he had me to thank for making the decision to enlist. A teacher just never knows how they will influence their students. I am proud of him!
