APOD: 2020 March 26 - Andromeda Station

Good morning, Rallypoint. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Andromeda Station." What happens when you combine background and foreground exposures were made back to back with the same camera and telephoto lens on the same night from the same location? Some might say magic. Here, exposures tracking the galaxy and background stars have been digitally combined with the foreground terrain.The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) speaks for itself. The mountain peak is the Weisshorn, a major peak of the Swiss Alps rising 4,506 m (14,783 feet) above sea level. It is part of the Pennine Alps and is located between the valleys of Anniviers and Zermatt in the canton of Valais.
