Of course they have mental health issues. What's surprising is that the percentage is as low as it is.

These young women have been targeted from birth by Madison Avenue and taught to hate their own bodies and to try and attain an air brushed fantasy of what the ideal beautiful woman should look like. They have been told that to be beautiful they must look like the cover or Vogue (which isn't real and relies heavily on computer manipulation of the image). They can never attain that image and thus they live in a perpetual state of self-imposed body shaming and self-loathing.

They have been sold the great lie that in order to be successful they MUST have a corporate career, and be a successful mother, who juggles both family and work with ease, confidence, and a smile on their face. They aren't allowed to choose one or the other, they feel they must do both.

They have been indoctrinated in school to hate their own country , their own society, and most importantly to hate themselves because of the color of their skin.

They live in a perpetual state of "keeping up with the Jone's" through social media and don't understand why they aren't as happy as their peers always appear to be on line. So they continually strive to create the false narrative of social happiness and flood the Internet with duck lipped, false smile, selfies designed to convince themselves, and their friends, at how happy they are. They know its a lie and it eats at them because they aren't as happy as their peers.

They have been taught to hate men, and look down on them as a form of comic relief, rather than seeking a mate who is their equal, to partner with on their journey through life. They have been taught that playing the field and promiscuity are the only ways to real happiness. Then one day they turn 30, look around and wonder why all the 'good men' have walked away from them. This inability to engage in a honest relationship with someone you want to spend the rest of your life with, is a huge handicap and one that leaves them trying to continually make it alone rather than working with their life partner to engage life and all it's obstacles.

I have raised five daughters, two step-daughters, and two sons. I have watched and guided them through life trying to help them to avoid these snares, these lies, and this manufactured reality. I am also watching as this same narcissism has begun to impact young men. The same targeting tactics used on young women is now being focused on young men. Ultimately, we are going to have a much much larger problem on our hands if we don't reverse these trends.
