I agree, Looking at PTSD as an Opportunity rather than a "disability" is right on target. Barry, I too am tormented by nightmares, and suicide thoughts can certainly be sometimes overwhelming. However, I also believe that my steps are ordained by God and my message is an important part of His Mission for me. In the past couple of years I have learned that sharing my own story is not only therapeutic for myself, but also may help another with their own on-going story.

Finding a way to create a new "Framework" to work from, I believe is the real answer to developing new ideas and concepts to determine our new paths and begin to find our way. Will all of our challenges go away? Probably not, but it certainly helps to pave the road with a better surface to travel on and learn how to "go around" the potholes or slow down to be able to safely maneuver through them and keep on going. It may mean shifting from Drive into a Lower gear to move forward, but at least we can continue to move forward.

My faith in Christ and what the Bible teaches has certainly been a safety net for me on many occasions. However, until I began to form a different approach to some of my challenges, (a Framework of sorts if you will) and began sharing my story with others I often couldn't get from Park into Drive and usually stayed more in neutral and tried to coast through life.

Angela Benedict, Thank you for the post and I look forward to hearing more from you in this regard.

Thanks for the comments! But I can't do this alone. I have created excellent programming - but getting it into the hands of personnel active and veteran who need it takes outreach, exposure and word of mouth. Please pass on the link to MHC to your address book, facebook and twitter followers, LinkedIn followers...militaryhealingcenter.blogspot.ca. Getting Weapons Pkg. programs to personnel saves lives, marriages and careers. Please spread the word today.

Combat Stress and PTS can also be from misdiagnosed traumatic brain injuries (TBI) and that is why it is so important to understand the healing effects of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). First heal the brain, then deal with the emotional issues.

There is an approximately 85% crossover between the symptoms of PTS and a TBI and the diagnostic tools used by the DOD and VA will not properly diagnose the TBI. I am a 16 year survivor of a near fatal TBI, (I flat-lined twice post-op from grand mal seizures)
