I stayed in the area of my last military move [Washington, D.C.] CPO Byron Kelly. I PCSed to this are in 1989 at government expense. I was involuntarily separated in October 1992 [post Gulf-War drawdown]. I was then assigned to the Pentagon as a USAR officer and moved a few times in the area at my own expense.
Thanks for mentioning me CW5 Jack Cardwell

No, used my last military move to go from North Dakota to Florida, for obvious reasons, prior to official retirement date.

I moved to Wisconsin from the Puget Sound area when I retired in 2011. My wife is from Wisconsin and that was a big reason for the move there, but I couldn't be happier. In addition to military pension being tax free in Wisconsin, there is also the Wisconsin GI Bill. So with the Wisconsin GI Bill, if you have a 30% combined disability rating from the VA and you have lived in the state for 5 years after service having an honorable or general discharge, the veteran, spouse, and ALL children are eligible for 128 s.h. or 8 semesters of tuition remission at any state university or technical college. The education benefits alone was the reason for our movement to Wisconsin.

I am definitely interested in this. We are trying to decide on our move, and you might have just made up our minds

Let me know if you want additional information. I can give you job markets based on whether you want to be more rural or urban and what other veteran services are available.
