We have seen is coming for the last 10 years. China is now building its 4th aircraft Carrier. In my opinion, they want to confront or spoil a counter-attack by the United States by placing 4 aircraft carriers as a screen to keep us out while Taiwan uses its 800 javelin missiles and its older M-60 A3 tanks and other weaponry to stall the people's Republic of China's forces on the beach and in the interior while we mobilize and hopefully come to their aid. If we do not, we will let Taiwan go down in history to defeat. At the end of WW2, Mainland China was Nationalist and its military was strong from US advisors training whole Chinese Nationalist Divisions in preparation to defeat the Japanese. After the war ended, The Nationalist Armies were slowly defeated by the Communists and Former General/Secretary George Marshall hated Chang Kai Shek and he did not support the Nationalists with additional arms and ammunition while Russia was giving captured Japanese weapons and ammunition to Mao Tse Tung's Army causing the Nationalists to retreat to Taiwan by 1949.

In my book, climate change is not the biggest fear but the invasion of Taiwan which will result in climate change of 20 years of global cooling if we have a limited nuclear war. National Geographic published a story 11 years ago on this exact subject discussing how the climate would be cooled by a limited nuclear war between India and China. I have been commenting for 2 years here to forget about climate change, it will come to bite us in the behind if we get into a limited nuclear war. Taiwan also bought new F-16s and as many torpedoes they could get their hands on from Foreign Military Sales.

We had a Defense Treaty with Taiwan that expired in 1980. The PRC just took back Hong Kong, I think they will be emboldened by our internal strife from the moment George Floyd died and the cities surrendered to the leftist protests/riots and now the strife from the insurrection of the fringe right group on the Capitol. The impeachment of Former POTUS Trump may be on your minds but remember that China likes our infighting. I hope President Biden sends a show of force like past Presidents have done. Remember, North Vietnam invaded South Vietnam during the tenure of the weak Ford Administration recovering from the Watergate scandal and POTUS Nixon's resignation. My Social Worker Mother spent 3 weeks at Camp Pendleton helping resettle refugees after the fall of Saigon. We do not want a President Obama Faux line in the Sand. We will also find out if Tony Bobulinksi was right. 108 Abrams M1A2 tanks are on order but it will be about 17-25 tanks a year to Taiwan. Hopefully, POTUS does not interfere with the FMS.

It will start as an air war to gain air superiority. I am no expert on the militaries of China and Taiwan, but I will say it is a great assumption that China's Airforce will have the upper hand due to their mass. It will be a different war if the US helps Taiwan. Here are some assumptions I will make:

- China will gain air superiority if the US does not intercede.
- Chinese aircraft carriers are not threated by anti-ship missiles if they want to create a screen line off the coast of Taiwan.
- If the US helps Taiwan, China will turn this into a regional war in the Southeast Asian Sea and the Pacific Ocean to attack our fleets and ground assets.
- It will be a huge undertaking logistically to support our fleets and other assets.

Here is a question, will the US be able to build up a coalition of countries to fight China?

This is the exact reason why we need to push for new weapons.

Bottom line
If the balloon goes up. The world as we know it is finished.
It will be worse than any Apocalypse Movie.
Same same as the difference in watching a war movie and being there.

We would definitely have the UK, and the Commonwealth nations, (Minus India, they are a wild card), the Phillipines, and the rest of the south pacific in the coalition, as this threatens them as well. My opinion here, and pure speculation, Japan stays out of it, for the obvious reasons, and South Korea keeps North Korea in check.

That is a sound argument you put forth. My question is, with such an array of countries in opposition to this, would we be sparking another world war?

SSG Robert Perrotto - I don't know what treaties state with allied countries. I don't know if there will be a modern day Winston Churchill who declares war on China because he views her as an evil empire. As you alluded too, some of the Allied countries will commit to the fight. I think it would be WWIII. Many Asian countries consider China to be a bully.

I will go into the geographic disparity of China and the US. There are no Islands close to the US that China can use for logistics and attacking the US mainland. However, in the Pacific area there exists many islands and island countries to include countries in the Asian continent that we can use for logistics and to attack from. I will safely assume more Asian countries trust us more than China.

My prediction should China attack Taiwan is it will overwhelm the little country relatively quickly because it is so close to China. The Allied forces do not have to retake Taiwan right away. I believe the key is the Allied nations to mass their military capabilities to cause severe attrition to the Chinese military. We don't have to commit our aircraft carriers because we can use islands and Allied countries on the continent. We can use distance to keep our aircraft carriers safe. China on the other hand, their aircraft carriers will be vulnerable unless they move them a great distance from the fighting which makes no sense because they will become irrelevant.

We need to sink her aircraft carriers. That will make our navy safer due to a lack of Chinese naval air power and their navy more vulnerable because she can’t protect her fleets as well. The key to winning the war in my mind is to cause attrition to key Chinese military assets like aircraft carriers and planes and to conduct strategic bombings to prevent her from replacing what she lost in the war. For example in WWII the Japanese lost all her aircraft carriers and could not replace them at the end of the war. Should China be ruthless and conduct strategic bombings of Taiwan to kill civilians, then it would make it much easier for us to decide to reciprocate on Chinese cities.

I firmly believe the strategic importance of China's claim to the South China Sea is to build her capacity to control a region in the Pacific area just like Japan did.

In summary destroy her most important military assets and prevent her from replacing them. It will be a very bad day for China if we control the seas and the air. This is how I would fight China. I have no concern about her army unless we want to invade China, but I don't think we want to do that. Tojo, Hitler, and Napoleon learned the more countries you fight, the better chance you will get your ass kicked.

LTC Conway, thanks for raising the issue of Taiwan. Not many people are discussing Taiwan and its prospects for survival in the new political environment of the D.C. swamp. I don’t think the Biden admin gives a hoot if Taiwan lives or dies. If I were Taiwanese, I would be very busy sending my family to the States and converting my assets into Swiss francs and booking my airline ticket for Anywhere USA.

Her is the big problem, not US- Tawain has claimed Nukes for years- periodically, they roll them out of caves so Reds can see them drilling, then roll them back. Supposed they can glass Shanghai, and part of Red's rice bowl areas.

The United States official policy regarding Taiwan has been one unified China. I believe President Trump was the first U.S. president to recognize Taiwan but I have a feeling the set policy will remain.

not sure when Red China was officially recognized as THE China but up through the 60s, Taiwan was THE China. Not sure what President made that call.

ROFLMAO. With all the ties he and his son has? He may front by going on TV looking and sounding all upset and give a stern but hollow warning. But then he'll call his Daddy, Xi Jinping, and apologetically exclaim that he was only kidding and had to say those things. Then ask for forgiveness as he bends over yet again.

No. Of course not. The administration - or better said, the people who are pulling POTUS' strings, who are the same people who do not let him out of their sight or allow him to speak without the script they've given him, and who dictate the non-questions or "puff-balls" that reporters are allowed to ask him, - will care nothing for Taiwan or what Taiwan represents. They will instead send out their minions to spout the "allowed doctrine", the "party's story", which will revolve around the idea that this is an "internal Chinese matter to be resolved among themselves", then they will sit back and watch the slaughter.

Politically, we ceased being a reliable and dependable ally to countries that might defend individual liberty in even the scantest ways. Since "socialism" is now the harangue of the "woke" crowd, which is amply represented in the current "administration", and since the "Goebbels approach" is their favorite national socialist methodology, what we should see is an increasing condescension with totalitarian regimes (given that totalitarianism is the logical political consequence of the economic doctrine of socialism). Any government that remotely respects liberty should not expect any help from THIS administration.

So, to reiterate, no, the "people who pull biden's strings" administration will not lift a finger to defend Taiwan. In any case, I expect they will Goebbels-"justify" it and, in some cases, applaud it.
