What are you opinions on Trainees being able to have their cell phones is basic training. As a prior recruiter all I can remember is the recruits posting "selfies" and pictures onto our station facebook page. Is it a good thing that the army is getting additional free advertisement, or is it a distraction from training? Coming into the army in 2003 we weren't allowed to have anything like this at the time, and our phone calls were on Sundays only and lasted about 30 seconds which half the time was punching in the numbers on the back of the phone card into the pay phone.

Apparently new recruits have "stress cards" in Air Force Basic and I believe Army Basic. Additionally, they get their cell phones on Sundays! How ridiculous is that?! Thoughts on this? I don't agree with stress cards or cell phones in basic. The enemy combatant doesn't care if you are stressed! I'm not sure about this new generation.
