With the recent amount of stolen valor it is hard to keep up with all the different threads being posted here on RallyPoint. From this point forward if you have a stolen valor question, comment, and or post, then add it here. The posts that currently exist will stay, as we don't want to lose the already existing discussion content. If you have started a stolen valor post prior to this and wish to have it merged to this one then feel free to let me know and I will merge that for you. The initial post will be gone but the discussion content will be merged to this posting.

Great on you. It can be hard enough to get people to make an on-the-spot correction to someone who's actually in, and on a military base. Going out and confronting a phony in a civilian atmosphere to a manager is good stuff. All of these guys need a lot more than embarassment at a restaurant if you ask me. He got off lightly.

Stolen valor needs to cover servicemembers as well. I don't know if it's true or not but I heard once that we all get pissed off when Hollywood jacks up a uniform in a movie but that they intentionally do it so that it's not copying an exact, in regulation military uniform.

I have heard this too, but I just attribute it to standard "Hollywood" behavior, not blatant disrespect. Now, people who go out on Veterans Day to a place filled with Active Duty and Veterans/Retirees in a slop like that, KNOWING they are lying is plain disrespect. What are your thoughts on punishments, sir?

I agree Captain Miller and in my case, the guy had a sign talking about suicides in the military and because I had a disability related to that, I took that seriously.

Here's the latest one. Super funny yet ridiculously sad. I wish I was there to ask the guy some better questions though. BTW, look at his "flag". It's the Civil War era Northern Virginia flag, incorrectly known as the Confederate flag.

These guys, and gals, are obviously attention starved and at least slightly mentally imbalanced. I treat them like fans, or groupies. If I keep that mindset it makes it easier to not get mad.

SSG Joaquin Goicoechea, I did notice that but, with many of these videos, we don't see the "end" result afterwards. From what I understand, the man was escorted out of the terminal by security. If someone finds out what happened afterwards, please post it on here. We definitely need to get it passed around the actual consequences to these actions.

i applaud the restraint in how they called this fat wagon out. Keys out, hands in pockets, cover on indoors, and the Battle Flag of Virginia as his unit badge. If i ever see one of these ass hats they will be famous that's for sure.

Civilians who dishonor the fallen by "posing" did not earn the right to be called brother or sister. They are cowards who chose not to shed blood with the men and women who made the sacrifice. They need to be exposed with extreme prejudice.

I believe each such thief needs to be outfitted with full body armor, weapon, kit, and rank of whatever he was posing as, then dropped by parachute behind ISIL lines in Syria. If he gets back alive, we drop the charges. (I.e. you want to make the claim? Now you get to back it up.)

Good point, SSG Andreas Redondo. We could allow them to compare their fictional resumes while in flight to see who is going to be in command of the unit.

Best of all, maybe we could make this into a reality TV show. Remote controlled camera drones are cheap enough. I'm sure it would get more viewers than Backstabber ... I mean Survivor.

SGM, exactly. I would have each position filled by each person's respective "fake" rank. If there are multiples then stick them in a pit to duke it out. :D

BTW, there's no second "A" in my first name. :D

I like this idea. We could even give the unit its very own elite name. Maybe 1st of the 1st Poser Forces or something. Send them on the most highly dangerous missions. Drop them via parachute (without giving them any training since they claim to know it anyway).

See how long they last, and if they complete the mission we can award them bragging rights and drop any charges.

SGT Dustin Feigel, I like 1st of the 1st Poser Force, but I think they should be called the "A-hole Team" in honor of a stupid TV show featuring a COL, a CPT, a 1LT, and a MSG on a team which fired 4000 rounds of ammunition per episode without hitting anything.

This is exactly what should happen with pretenders.

I will correct one thing, you can dress up like a pilot, cop, or tell people you are a lawyer and you will not face any punishment from the law unless you use the powers of a police officer or attempt to defraud people.

I think public humiliation is the best punishment for these people.

I like the idea of jail time. Some form of real punishment is certainly in order.

What made me chuckle is that I am pretty sure he is holding a ball cap for the Marines... He has mistaken his service organization completely... Either that or he is really in the Army, and like most, he just wants to be in a really fighting force...

*shots fired* haha

I actually love Marines. My BOLC (Officer Basic Course) was at the FA school at Fort Sill. There were about 20 Marine 2LTs in my Platoon. All great guys, I still talk to a lot of them today. Have worked with them on the battlefield. Every Marine I have ever had the privilege to work with has been a consummate professional, tactically and technically proficient.

Yes, there are dozens of problems with this.

The thing that sticks out the most to me is the fact that he looks soft, scared and wants people to admire him. Every SFC who is in SF that I have seen/met are hardcore and you can see their training and discipline in their eyes, stature and demeanor. This guy is a complete fraud.

So much wrong with this....
