We deliver eggs from our chickens to the widows of veterans and a couple Older retired Vietnam vets locally. I also help with vacation bible study for the kids in the summer and have served as a merit badge counselor for construction trades for the Boy Scouts.

My first volunteer experience was with the Cold War Ground Observer Corps. We were trained by U.S.A.F. & served whenever called upon. When "alerts" were called, the Post Supervisor (a WW II paratrooper, captured on Sicily) prepared a roster to cover the duration of the alert. I take great pride in the fact Soviet aircraft never bombed my little Southern Colorado town.
