Active USMC SSgt here, stationed in eastern NC. Just got my DD 368 approved by HQMC and have my WOFT packet about 80% complete. My only concern right now are the Letters of Recommendation. I do not have the required “senior active Army aviator” connections that I wish I did. I can get several USMC O-3 aviators letters, as well as O-4/O-5 -5 non-aviator letters. Any one else run into similar problems?

Or, a long shot - if an active senior Army aviator on this forum in eastern NC would entertain a meeting with me, I would thoroughly appreciate the opportunity to share my current accolades and show my potential as a WOFT applicant.

Thank you all in advance.

SSG Morris I have multiple friends and fellow aviators that I can put you in contact at Ft Bragg that would more than likely be more than happy to meet with you. Send me a PM and we can discuss getting you in touch with them and getting an interview set up so you can get the letter you need and submit your packet.

MSgt Stephen Council - You Definitely got the Word Out far and wide. WO1 (Join to see) If You're Looking for some with Connections to Sea Service Aviation look for some that worked for COMSPAWARSYSCOM/SPAWARS. While I was with SPAWARS I was struck by the Number of Senior Officers that were at one time Naval Aviators. Sounds Like a Great Way to Go.

I think there have been quite a few people who have found WO's on RP to write those letters. Check out the posts in the 153A group page. Or go a step further and reach out to a few who are active. If they can't help you, perhaps someone they know can.

Awesome, thank you. I should’ve poked around more before posting, but I am relatively new to RP.

WO1 (Join to see) - No, all good. RP is a great resource if you need information or connections. Thanks for posting (but also poke around a bit too)! On the 153A group page, click on the "People" tab to see all the 153A's on RP to connect with. You can also post to that group via "Discussions."

What is a good plan of attack to connect with Warrant Officers for letters of recommendation?

Also try calling them, see if they have anyone near you, any groups, senior members, board members, meetings, that sort of thing...also, see if there might be any ARNG rotary or fixed wing units near where you are, generally, those tend to be distributed around the country, you might be able to ask if you could drive over, speak with them, apply for an orientation check ride, perhaps...I've also seen numerous YouTube videos on fixed and rotary wing as well that are quite good orientation...if your area had a mil aero club, also see if you can seek them out, as well, my place did, I never made adequate use of it for training, I applied for aeromed clearance for Navy NFO, I passed, I was never able to go intersvc while USAF...also, look seriously at nav/WSO/NFO training yourself, I know you'd likely want pilot, I get that, however, back seat can, I've read, often lead to front seat later on, honest...just a thought, OK?
