Many of us have "Bucket List". However, sometimes life hands us obstacles that cannot be overcome in achieving everything on your list. What is yours? ...Mine is the fact that I have a Private Pilots License. I had always assumed that when I retired, I would obtain my Instrument, commercial, and multi-engine ratings. I have permanently lost my Class II/III Medical Clearance. So I know I will never be able to obtain those desired additional ratings. LTC Stephen F. Thank you for sharing an uplifting post my friend Sgt Jay Jones and letting us know that you desired to take advantage of physical lift in being a private plane pilot. [pun intended :-) ]
I am sad to learn that you have lost your medical clearance to fly as a pilot.
God allows to have desires that will be unfulfilled in this lifetime. HE replaces those desires with ones that HE will fulfill that are best suited for us.
I hope that you have many desires that have been fulfilled and many more that will be.
I did a brief search of Class II/III Medical Clearance since I was unfamiliar with it..
1. Class 2 medical certificate is required only for General Aviation pilots – those that fly as a hobby
2. Class 3 medical certificate is required for private pilot duties only.
My bucket list includes
1. a retirement home well-suited for my darling wife and I as we age in an are with beautiful views that will be unchanged for generations to come.
2. taking my darling wife on a river cruise of the Rhein/Main-Donau canal in Bavaria into Austria.
3. taking a cross country train trip through southern Canada with my darling wife.
4. establishing a family reunion each August that our sons will continue after we die.

LTC Stephen F. Sgt Jay Jones Well that Just Sucks, Sorry to Hear about Your Medical Disqualification. As Far as Bucket List. I did Everything Way to Early. Kind of Hard to Top being a Navy Spook for 21 Years (Actually Enjoy being Relatively Bored Now)

I would have loved to learn to fly but put it off too long. Now, I am medically disqualified (inner ear problem)

That is terrible, Sgt Jay Jones but I expect in just being able to fly the sense of freedom with no holds barred is tremendous.
