The Japanese attempted to kill their way to victory in banzai attacks in WWII PO1 Tony Holland. At times they achieved local success but never strategic success.
Killing your way to victory is a time-honored tactical approach which has worked in gang wars and on tactical battlefields such as ambushes for centuries.
1, In the total war of WWII, we killed our way to victory in firebombing campaigns against Dresden and Tokyo as well as the atomic strikes against Hiroshima and Nagasaki
2. During the last 18 months of the US Civil War as U.S. Grant, Phil Sheridan and W.T. Sherman waged a war of attrition of man, beats and food stores against the confederacy who was not capable of fielding sufficient forces to make up for losses, killed, wounded or captured.
3 That being said killing your way to victory failed miserably in wars of attrition such on the western front.
4. Killing your way to victory only works well in total war for the victorious. ISIS has waged a campaign of attempting to kill their way to victory in Iraq and Syria but it has backfired against their forces.
