I was surprised to learn that Charles Manson was imprisoned back in California. I thought he had been imprisoned in West Virginia Federal Prison and then I realized that must be one of his Manson Family members like Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Convicted mass murderer Charles Manson is at the California prison where he is serving a life sentence, corrections officials said on Saturday, following recent reports that the hippie-era cult leader had been hospitalized.
California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials said Manson, 82, was at California State Prison, Corcoran, which is about 60 miles (97 km) north of Bakersfield in central California.
“We never said he was anywhere else and the law does not allow us to comment on an inmate’s medical issues – which should not be taken as confirmation that this inmate was recently in a hospital,” Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesman Jeffrey Callison said in an email.
The Los Angeles Times and other media, citing unnamed sources, reported earlier this week that Manson had been transported to a hospital in Bakersfield for treatment. On Wednesday, a state prison official had declined to confirm the media reports or provide details on Manson’s location or specifics on his medical condition.
In the 1960s, Manson, a charismatic ex-convict, assembled a group of runaways and outcasts known as the “Manson Family.” In the summer of 1969, he directed his mostly young, female followers to murder seven people in what prosecutors said was part of a plan to incite a race war."

LTC Stephen F. The Government and unfortunately the taxpayers wasted a lot of money on this character. We should have put him to death along with the individuals that committed this crime a long time ago. I'm sorry, but people that take other individuals lives or plan the demise of others like this, need to be done away with. I'm a firm believer in the death penalty and I think the stay or waiting period on death row needs to be eliminated as well. That is just my personal opinion. I realize there are advocates against the death penalty and I respect their rights. Personally when he dies in prison I won't shead any tears and I will forget about him very quickly - this isn't the history I want to remember!
