The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday indicted 13 Russian nationals in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference of the 2016 Presidential election.
The Justice Department alleges that 13 Russian nationals and three groups broke criminal laws and intended to interfere in “U.S. elections and political processes,” the Department said.
“The indictment charges all of the defendants with conspiracy to defraud the United States, three defendants with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and bank fraud, and five defendants with aggravated identity theft,” the agency said, ABC reported.
ABC also reported:
The indictment says that some defendants “communicated with unwitting individuals associated with the Trump campaign” without revealing their association with Russia. The indictment also says the defendants posted negative information about a number of candidates during the last general election.
“Defendants operations included supporting the Presidential campaign on then-candidate Donald J. Trump and disparaging Hillary Clinton” his Democratic rival, according to the indictment.

That is interesting information TSgt Joe C. that the US Department of Justice has indicted 13 Russian nationals in special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference of the 2016 Presidential election.
This seems to somewhat biased news, as expected since it is ABC, “Defendants operations included supporting the Presidential campaign on then-candidate Donald J. Trump and disparaging Hillary Clinton”
It seems the Russians were pushing for Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump who are both outsiders of the Washington, DC political machines.
I checked FOX New to see how they reported it.
"Further, the DOJ made clear that the indictment does not allege that any of the interference changed the outcome of the presidential race.
“There is no allegation in this indictment that any American was a knowing participant in this illegal activity. There is no allegation in the indictment that the charged conduct altered the outcome of the 2016 election,” Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees the special counsel probe, said at a Friday press conference.
President Trump reacted to the indictments by seizing on Rosenstein's comment that the election results were not impacted by the Russians' activity.
"Russia started their anti-US campaign in 2014, long before I announced that I would run for President," Trump tweeted. "The results of the election were not impacted. The Trump campaign did nothing wrong - no collusion!"
The 37-page indictment, signed by Mueller, said the actions detailed by prosecutors date back to 2014.
The defendants are accused of spreading derogatory information about Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, denigrating Republican candidates Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio -- and ultimately supporting Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders and then-Republican candidate Donald Trump."

The indictment alleges that some of the defendants were in communication with President Donald Trump’s campaign, but not that Trump officials knowingly colluded with Russia. No Trump officials or associates are named in the indictment.
