Well PO1 Tony Holland I am not surprised that huffingtonpost is sarcastically posting this headline.
President Trump hints at a possible visit to Afghanistan after making a Thanksgiving phone call with an Air Force general Thursday, saying you never know what could happen.

President Donald Trump talks with troops via teleconference from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., Thursday, Nov. 22, 2018. (AP Photo/Susan Walsh)

His comments come after he pledged over the weekend to visit U.S. troops in a war zone either in Iraq or Afghanistan.

The president said he’s had a very busy schedule over the past two years, but will be visiting a war zone soon.

The U.S. has about 14,000 troops in Afghanistan who are supporting a training and advisory mission, as well as counter-terrorism operations.

“So, we’re winning, your winning and I appreciate very much and General your reputation is an incredible one. Thank you very much for your job and I’ll see you back when you’re back in the United States or maybe I’ll even see you over the there. You never know what’s going to happen.” -President Trump

A White House team is reportedly planning President Trump’s war zone visit, but has not released a date or location."

After their respective tours are over they will also be comming back to a much more robustly growing United States in the area of transportation infrastructure, financial growth.........and hopeful road and bridge construction if Trump can get a decent infrastructure program passed. I think the next two years will be slower for Trump now that the Democrats are in the House (Trumps fault for running his mouth all the time and not building a larger base). However the four years after that might be pretty good for fixing Infrastructure and the National Debt (also on his agenda).

From your comment, it seems you would have us believe that you were privy to every phone call from the White House to deployed forces SPC Martin Wiesiolek
Offline I may ask my friends General Joe Votel [CENTCOM] and General Tony Thomas [SOCOM] for their perspective on this.

1. It took some time to find an unbiased news story about the Thanksgiving phone call.
2. Since you mentioned "Trump did on the call with the military leaders," I posted the names of the 4-star-commanders of the forces in the Middle East.
"President Donald Trump phoned military service members around the world on Thanksgiving morning to thank them for their service, but Trump spent much of the Thanksgiving calls talking about efforts at the southern border.
“You are doing an incredible job,” Trump said in a teleconference from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
”A lot of progress has been made and your courage truly inspires us all. We know what you are doing. We watch it. Often times we are watching it every night during the news, and we know it is dangerous, and we also know that you have an unbelievable impact.”
Trump asked each branch on the call about their mission, before jumping into talks of the border."

Odd, isn’t it, that when Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s team of professional forensic analysts presented rock solid evidence that the so-called scan of Obama’s original long-form birth certificate posted on the White House website was generated on a computer from parts of other documents (which they identified!) and that human intervention was definitely involved in its creation... the journalists all wanted to know what gave him the right to investigate the President! They completely ignored obvious evidence of fraud uncovered by Sheriff Arpaio and began attacking him.

The Snowflakes downvoting me for telling the truth are no different. Truth is like Kryptonite to Liberals; they can’t stand to be anywhere near it. And instead of contemplating the message, they shoot the messenger.

I take the downvotes as inspiration because I know I’m hitting close to their comfort zone. Liberals prefer smooth lies to inconvenient truths that challenge what they choose to believe and make their reality — regardless of its lack of connection to anything real. Very sad when people choose to be willfully ignorant.

I see some pretty stark differences here though between Presidential Administrations. First, there was a LOT more troops in both Afghanistan and Iraq during the Obama administration because Military Genius Obama was given incorrect intelligence assessments by both the CIA and NSC on ISIS in Iraq and nearly lost the country to that opposing force and I might add, did significant damage to Syria where over half the population of Syria became refugees on the move to other destinations. Likewise Afghanistan started to slip as well under Obama and required more troops. So a much larger troop presence in both countries. Second, the current administration has been starved of staff because the Democrats wanted to play political games with slow walking all appointments. This administration easily has probably 30-40% less people in it than the Obama administration partly due to that Democratic Party political manuever. The whole country is suffering from lack of progress on several issues due to this stupidity which is likely to get worse with the next two years. Third, this administration is focused more on domestic policy by virtue of his political campaign than Obama was. Obama was prancing all over the world trying to impress world leaders with his speeches while our Economy was in stagnation mode at home. I think if I were a troop overseas I would rather my family back in the states be in a robust economy vs having to struggle to make ends meet. His list of targeted issues is also a lot more broad than Obamas. Obama had an easy time passing his first infrastructure program even though 95% of the funds really went to transfer payments and soclal program expansion (which didn't help the national debt any because those are not investments). Obama could not pass a second stimulus of any consequence because he was seen as largely wasting the first. Everyone is suffering because of that including our troops overseas. We'll see how Trump does but I can tell you that already Trump is doing far superior in Infrastruture spending with private participation. Already we have three seperate privately run High Speed Rail programs in this country, in the past few weeks Virgin Atlantic Airways via it's VIRGIN TRAINS subsidiary has entered the United States market in a very big way in Florida, California and now Texas. Under Obama, High Speed Rail was to be entirely taxpayer funded and in California we have a $100 Billion Dollar Taxpayer funded system under construction which will probably fall behind schedule significantly and not meet financial targets. High Speed Rail is just one example. We have several Airport Improvement projects funded with private money undergoing the lengthly EIS process, some of which got under way via Obama and some under Trump. Before Trumps Presidency is over we should see projects in New York, Kansas City, and Los Angeles underway. I don't know if it was me I would rather have POTUS focus on the Economy, Trade and hopefully the National Debt than do the worldwide Air Force One tour. The few troops remaining in Iraq and Afghanistan I think would rather have it that way. If it was me and I was stationed overseas, I would rather see an America building for the future than one standing still.

I would agree with your point about the troop levels, but as I think about it, what difference does it make how many troops are deployed. There really is no real excuse, and for those making the excuse, remember that you can't bash the next president for doing the same thing.

CPT Adam P. - Well, his term isn't over either. Bush made the trip almost every year, Obama less so. Would not be surprised if Trump either doesn't make the trip or the next President doesn't make the trip. At any rate, it shouldn't be an expectation in my view. The POTUS gets to choose what he prioritizes his time on. Reagan never visited the troops in Beruit or in Central America.
