Thank you, my friend LTC (Join to see) for making us aware that Lt. Gen. Charles Luckey, chief of the Army Reserve, and commanding general, U.S. Army Reserve Command stated on Tuesday January 29, 2019 that his force may not be ready to administer the new Army Combat Fitness Test as a test of record by the mandated October 2020 deadline.
Most units are physically well prepared for this new Army Combat Fitness Test - especially those who have deployed a lot.
Since the Reserve Units are distributed across the nation and decentralized, I am not surprised that Lt. Gen. Charles Luckey "is concerned that his command may not have the necessary exercise equipment for units to accomplish the test by the October 2020 deadline."
Resourcing the Reserve Component has been problematic since the redistribution of force structure post Vietnam war.
Thank you for mentioning me Maj Marty Hogan

I don't like this test for the active force and I think it is entirely impractical for the reserve and guard. It might be doable by people who spend full time working at their military positions but for those who hold other occupations it is absolutely impracticable and will lead to a large number of the equivalent of "weekend sports" injuries.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - While the current test may not be the best measure, it requires nothing other than space and a 2 mile route. There is also no excuse for RC Soldiers to prepare for it. As one Reserve Soldier said on one post, the Army Reserve cannot even issue uniforms to Soldiers and we expect them to get this equipment to everyone that needs it.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - no rest in between events either. In the current test, the rest is about 10 minutes while they read off the standards and give demonstrations of proper and improper form. the ACFT has little to know rest in between events.

LTC (Join to see) I can sort of see the logic in that, combat doesn't stop for rest breaks.
