While you are enjoying your tropical paradise we are subject to ice everywhere.
But such is winter life in Michigan - It gives us something to skate on.
I liked the quote by 'Annonymous' “Time is like a river. You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again. Enjoy every moment of your life.”
There are three rivers of significance in my life; the Detroit River at Belle Isle, the Chattahoochee, and the Upitoi rivers at Benning. Each of them brings back memories I wouldn't trade for anything.
I'm happy for you to be able to take this time for yourself and make great memories for you and your wife. Have a great time, brother!

I pray that teachers are educating children in basic physics, biology, logic, reasoning and English language.
I pray that YOU do what needs to be done to change the flow of the impeachment process in the U.S. Congress. I pray that the radicalized progressive democrats are paying attention to their constituents.
I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children and their loved ones sleep well Sunday night.

Good Sunday, January 12 morning my friend COL Mikel J. Burroughs and thank you for posting the pictures from your vacation in Costa Rica.
River Day is an interesting focus but not surprising since you are vacationing near a river in Costa Rica.
1. Deceased American actor and musician River Phoenix came to mind.
2. Many rivers can be peaceful until they become rapids or go over waterfalls
3. Rivers I have experience with
a. Chattahoochee river by Fort Benning where we had homemade raft race with drinking under the sun and swimming in the alligator somewhat infested river :-)
b. Stationed at Warner Barracks, Bamberg, Germany the Rhein Main Donau canal ran through Bamberg
c. Born in Philadelphia, PA and growing up nearby in Upper Darby, PA the Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers ran nearby.
(1). The Delaware River is the border of Pennsylvania and New Jersey
(2). The Schuylkill River runs by the Philadelphia Art Museum and the 72 stone steps before the entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art were the focus in a scene of the original Rocky movie
d. The Hudson river flows by USMA, West Point, New York where I was a cadet from July 1976 until graduation May 28, 1980. Our two-mile run course in combat boots took us parallel to the Hudson river as we had to run by the Wastewater Treatment Plant at USMA, West Point, NY twice - the odor from those wastewater pools was pretty bad. :-)
e. I live near the Potomac River which borders Virginia and Maryland.
f. The Platte River flows by Fort Leavenworth where I attended Combined Arms Service Support School in 1986. That river is also important in Command and General Staff College which I completed in 1997. In the strategy and operational warfare classes in the 1990's the warfare was focused on the Russians invading from Canada moving southwards and strategic defense in the Leavenworth area which enabled reconnoitering and staff walks, staff driving to specific areas, etc.
