..."One particular piece that stuck out to Cart was a poster of Russian President Vladimir Putin first seen in Mad Magazine that says “I want Ukraine,” done up much in the same style as America’s most famous piece of recruiting propaganda, the Uncle Sam “I want you” poster.

Like the posters from World War I, Cart said, “it’s basically the same format that’s being used — colorful images, that don’t need a lot of words that really, to show exactly what the feeling is, and to express an idea.”"

There's no doubt Putin's Purveyors of Prevarification have turned up the spigot--using the Western world's history of successful campaigns to reframe the narrative and cultivate favourable public opinion and support for his evil efforts.

It may well work with many, as they're starved for accurate and truthful reporting that actually reaches them. It still begs the question as to why he'd use those old western fashions to foist his falsehoods upon them, as this method of communicating is a change in venue for him (using Western images and causes--like last week's ridiculous lie to align the West's efforts to free Europe from the Nazi expansion and warmongering.
