Good afternoon, Rallypoint, and welcome to the May 15th Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD): "Colors of the Moon." The last time APOD featured this work from Italian photographer Marcella Pacé, a full lunar eclipse was expected. Today is no different: there will be a full lunar eclipse (aka Blood Moon) tonight for much of North and South America. The fun starts around 9:30PM EDT. The weather in NC is iffy at best...lots of clouds out at the moment. It cleared off nicely yesterday afternoon. We will see what the day holds. If you happen to catch a glimpse (and/or picture), please share with the rest of us.
