Military medicine and the VA have made some tremendous gains in prosthetics.

I shared this with SMSgt Minister Gerald A. "Doc" Thomas.

There is a new surgery for leg prosthetics, but the US won't approve it yet. It's only done in Australia. My nephew's leg was amputated, after a work related injury. The prosthetic put on here in the US caused him to have much pain and infection. Thankfully his dad is wealthy, and my nephew and his mom went to Australia for the surgery. It's amazing that there is no more pain or infections. The Australia doctor invented this new process by having so many amputees from the Middle East. It is a ball screwed in to the top bone and a socket screwed into the prosthesis and it snaps together and locks down. Mush more improvement since the wooden leg.

Thanks for sharing SGT (Join to see). I am glad that the veterans who went through the emPOWER ankle-replacement trial at Hines VA Medical Center like their new emPOWER replacement ankle. While it is sad that people including veterans need to have their ankles replaced it is great that technology is improving ankle replacement.
