Good morning RP. Today's Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) is titled "Eagle Aurora over Norway." A large coronal mass ejection occurred on our Sun five days before this 2012 image was taken, resulting in spectacular auroras being seen at high northern latitudes. Captured above Grotfjord, Norway, this shimmering green glow of recombining atmospheric oxygen resembles a profile of a bald eagle looking over its right shoulder. Salute!
