Thanks for reminding us that during the Cold war the CIA every now and then would release redacted information to refute claims by the USSR or Cuba. In this case the CIA released information to show that our bombing campaign had not significantly damaged North Vietnam's dikes which were crucial to agriculture SP5 Mark Kuzinski

As it turned out all our kid-glove approach to the North was to prolong the conflict resulting in the loss of 58,000 KIA and innumerable WIAs on our side and accomplishing nothing in the process. The spread of communism in RVN was not stopped and it never went any further as it was. Now they are our allies and bedfellows.
