Cindy
Lyrics
"You ought to see my Cindy she lives way down south
She’s so sweet the honey bees swarm around her mouth

Get along home Cindy Cindy
Get along home Cindy Cindy
Get along home Cindy Cindy
I’ll marry you some day

The first I seen my Cindy she was standing in the door
Her shoes and stocking in her hand her feet all over the floor

She took me to her parlor she cooled me with her fan
She said I was the prettiest thing in the shape of mortal man

She kissed me and she hugged me she called me suger plum
She throwed her arms around me I thought my time had come

Oh Cindy is a pretty girl Cindy is a peach
She threw her arms around my neck and hung on like a leech

And if I was a sugar tree standing in the town
Each time my Cindy passed I’d shake some sugar down

And if had a needle and thread fine as I could sew
I’d sew that gal to my coat tails and down the road I’d go

I wish I was an apple a-hanging on a tree
Every time that Cindy passed she’d take a bite of me"

Had a girl friend named Cindy.. except that her parents spelled it Sindey.... her last name started with a D.. Darby I recollect how it
Was said . We were in 3rd grade together .. She had a Step-daddy.
Her Momma married her daddy’s friend took his name her real name was Polish or Czechoslovakian..
and a long one.. Her Daddy and this fella served together in the Marines together.. same platoon and Company. Her daddy’s leg had got smashed in Korea, never really healed right, he got retired as a SSGT. Later they had to amputate
Because of infection.. He called his good friend .. to come and help him out.. with his business.. heavy equipment repair.. His friend (Darby) had stayed in the Corps and Retired a Master Gunnery Sergeant. So he married Sindey’s mom and she just changed names used her new husband’s medical benefits, commissary, exchange..
he adopted Sindey and her 2 brothers.. They made trips to Selfridge, Wright-Pat ANGB commissary.. went Friday night if he could get a couple rooms.. go shopping .. load up big coolers.. .. I got to with them on several trips over a few years .. 4 maybe.. I got to go in a few times .. us kids got a basket and a list.. and we’d meet at the registers.. I kinda headed for the door and waited. .. Her new step daddy was well organized when shopping... buying whole flats of canned items .. pork loins, shoulders..(butt roasts) Shopping trips were a Safari .. get a loaf of Fresh bread... got one sandwich.. ghat’s All was needed., meat, cheese.. onion (garden onions ..).
Some bottles of pop.. He did like beer but not on these trips.. so he had Root beer.. go in the exchange .. He like going to clothing sales uniform shop..
yeah... kinda wrong.. He bought
The boys marine corps green trousers for church services and the long sleeve khaki shirts .. and Sport coats different color to set them off. Got them low quarter shoes.. they knew how to shine shoes already.. pretty good too.
Enjoyed those trips to the bases ..
Went to the museum at Wright-Pat a few times.. went on vacay to CherryPoint.. Iwe stopped a day before getting there and I got Corps high n tight he left a lock a little bit long in front (about a half inch)... “just call me uncle, ok?”
Sure I could do that.. Theylnew by the cards he had adopted the two boys n girl. They didn’t even waste time asking for mine. (Good thing)
We stayed a week visiting in the area.. I didn’t know.. he and Sindey’s Mom had a JP wedding in Mi. ... he had a dress up wedding down in Carolina with swords and dress blues.. He had a friend had a suit(his Son’s ) who was on Italy in the Navy) . As soon as I got back to the room I changed and hung that suit up to give back to his friend. We stayed a couple more days and headed back to Michigan
The oldest boy Mike drove a while then the other boy drove;I didn’t even know he had a permit.. Her newly remarried Momma and her Step daddy got a break for awhile..
We stopped in Norfolk, Va. at Oceana NAS. He had a friend was
Mess Sgt .. but we went to his housing on backside of base.. ate out at the picnic table had burgers n chips and tater salad.. Great supper.. next morn’g drove back to Michigan.. Sindey and I had a great time and Mom didn’t keep us separated with her two boys between us.. We still followed rules to a point.. but not excessively.. if my grandma had ever found out.. I’d of had my lower backside tanned.. letting us sit together all those miles.. why.... who knows what... (old folks ideas like that)...
We got to their home and her dad took me home in the morn’g .. about 9 or so. ..
