Most of our WWII Veterans have journeyed on to their rest... That said, there was a sailor, who Is/was known as the Hero of Pearl Harbor...and I share this with you from the weekly VA News... The sailor's name was Doris "Dorie" Miller!
I urge you all to read his story in his honor and the honor of all the Veterans from the WWII era... I believe you will all find his story quite interesting...and awe inspiring... His actions still give us all a lesson we should always remember... Never give up! As I write this, I stand and give you a sharp salute, Dorie, for your service to your fellow man and to your Country! May you rest in everlasting peace!

Dorrie Miller as well as 600 other shipmate, including my uncle, was killed on The USS Liscome Bay when it was hit by a torpedo off Makin Island in the battle of Gilbert Is. It was on it's first mission

I never had a chance to meet him. I still have a couple WW2 friends that I visit. 1 is 95 years old, a China Vet and he is still living at home. Tough old guy
