Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on April 20, 1841 Edgar Allen Poe’s, The Murders in the Rue Morgue, first appears in Graham’s Lady’s and Gentleman’s Magazine. It is interesting that this was considered to be the first detective story.
I remember reading Murders in the Rue Morgue and many other Sherlock Holmes adventures when I was about 10 years old - I have loved to read since I was young. probably influenced by my parents who were multilingual librarians.
I was interested that the much more famous Sherlock Holmes series of detective stories began in 1980 when Sir Arthur Conan Doyle wrote his novel, A Study in Scarlet, which introduced the character of Detective Sherlock Holmes.
