My wife's dad was there in the 101st (ABN) Glider infantry. He survived both Normandy and Market Garden without a scratch (still cannot believe that - being towed into battle in a plywood and canvas glider) - but was severely wounded in the Battle of the Bulge and carried shrapnel in his back until the day he died.

LTC Orlando Illi Was he in the 327th GIR or the 1st Battalion 401st GIR? If he was a member of the 2/401st GIR, he would have probably moved with them to the 82nd.

I think it was the 327th. But his records were destroyed when they had that fire in St. Louis. He joined the 101st in 1943.

SGT Gregory Lawritson - Ms. Brenda told me that he still had nightmares of the Battle of the Bulge and the fact that when he pulled his buddy back into the foxhole during an artillery barrage that he was dead. He told her he never forgave himself for not saving him and his friends death haunted him until he died.

Massive amounts of firepower and much destruction ahead. What a waste of ingenuity and life in general. Sometimes you have to use force to reset someone's thinking. Great share and video today SGT John " Mac " McConnell

I concur Maj Marty Hogan . They should have just give it up. They knew that they could not win this war by then. But then again propaganda rears its deadly head. Have a great day brother.

Thanks for sharing a great color documentary of the final German strategic offensive of WWII which we know as the Battle of the Bulge which took place in initial overcast weather which meant allied air superiority was neutralized.
Operation Greif. Otto Skorzeny led hundreds of German commandos on an audacious mission behind enemy lines known as Operation Greif. ... They turned out to be Sergeant Gunter Billing, Corporal Manfred Pernass, and Private Wilhelm Schmidt of the German 150th Panzer Brigade.
The video shows images of Panzer Grenadiers formations moving in the attack with Panzerkampfwagen (PZKPFW) VI Tiger 1; PZKPFW V Panther
