Thank you my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for posting the official music video of Guns N Rose performing "Sweet Child O' Mine"
Song Background "Axl Rose dedicated this song to his then-girlfriend Erin Everly. She appears in the music video for the song along with all the other girlfriends of the band members.
The song began as a joke during warming up when guitarist Slash played some simple cyclic melody. Rhythm guitarist Izzy Stradlin came up with some chords, Duff McKagan created a bassline and Steven Adler planned a beat. Slash later said in his autobiography, "Within an hour my guitar exercise had become something else."
This song is the most successful single for the band reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100. It was released as the third single in June 1988. The first two singles "It's So Easy" and "Welcome To The Jungle" flopped, but "Sweet Child O' Mine" climbed to the top of the charts and reached number-one position in September. After that the album was re-released to become a hit this time.
Slash told Rolling Stone magazine about the famous guitar riff of this song, "It's a combination of influences. From Jeff Beck, Cream and Zeppelin to stuff you'd be surprised at: the solos in Manfred Mann's version of 'Blinded By The Light' and Gerry Rafferty's 'Baker Street'.""
"Sweet Child O' Mine" written by Axl Rose
Lyrics
"She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I stare too long, I'd probably break down and cry
Whoa, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Whoa, oh, oh, oh
Sweet love of mine
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I'd hate to look into those eyes and see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder and the rain to quietly pass me by
Whoa, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Whoa whoa, oh, oh, oh
Sweet love of mine
Whoa, yeah
Whoa, oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Whoa, oh, whoa, oh
Sweet love of mine
Whoa, oh, oh, oh
Sweet child o' mine
Ooh, yeah…"
