"Mountain Fever Records has released a debut single from their upcoming album with Irene Kelley, These Hills.
The single is Carolina Wind, one Irene wrote with Milan Miller and Thomm Jutz, describing her love for the Blue Ridge mountains in western North Carolina. She is assisted by Scott Vestal on banjo, Stuart Duncan on fiddle, Adam Steffey on mandolin, Bryan Sutton on guitar, and producer Mark Fain on bass. Singing harmony are Claire Lynch and Ronnie Bowman.
Noted as a top Nashville songwriter, Irene has placed songs on projects by Ricky Skaggs, Carl Jackson, Alan Jackson, Trisha Yearwood, Loretta Lynn, Pat Green, Brother Phelps, Rhonda Vincent, Claire Lynch, Darrell Scott, The Whites, and The Osborne Brothers.
Kelley says that Carolina Wind holds a special memory for her, recalling how it was written.
“I love this song so much and how it was created. Milan is from North Carolina and Thomm was telling him how much I love it in the mountains over there. We got together and had this one finished in an hour. Making road trips is a big part of being a touring musician and some of my favorite stretch of highway is I-40 East to North Carolina and on to the beach. The lyric, fast pace and Scott Vestal’s banjo really make it fly.”
