“Ten to 15 years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery rose to 20 times that of comparable peers,” said McHugh.
That's because mental disease cannot be successfully treated surgically.

SGT (Join to see) - If it's not a mental disease then what do you call it? If it's not a mental problem, then what is it? If a person thinks they are other than what GOD made them, then what do you call it? I'm so confused.

SGT (Join to see) - How does genetics make a boy a girl or a girl a boy (in their heads) ?

I try to remember that each human being is created in the image of God and is ultimately worthy of respect Sgt Kelli Mays
Certainly we have our own priorities for what is important. I try to focus on what unites us instead of what divides us. Each of us are part of humanity after all.
Each of us has made mistakes. Some mistakes are recoverable with simple steps while others are too costly. Counting the cost is important before making significant decisions.

LTC Stephen F. - if I could I would vote this comment up 1000 times. I think the one thing America has become really good at lately is focusing on the things that separate us rather than working on uniting us. We need to change that if we ever want to "be great again".

Unity always conquers fragmentation in society. The U. S. can overcome the divisiveness of the current day by emphasizing the fact of our many similarities. All people have more commonality that most appreciate for down into our basic chemistry we are the same. Apparent differences of plumbing, color, or personal identification mean little in light of humanity which is everyone's background. God created the collective humanity as His image bearers and we each individually are His image. We understand that our individual trinity [body, soul, spirit] of being comes from the Creator and our beginning is found in Him who holds the entire universe.

I'm not sure. Common sense will be needed to heal the divide in America and I'm not sure it exists in enough quantity anymore.

First problem - children have no idea what they are talking about. Certainly nothing as major and IRREVERSIBLE as gender assignment. I mean when I was 8, I thought acid washed jeans were a good idea. If at 18 you feel like it, then go for it. But doing this to a child should be criminal.
Second problem - I talked to a pilot at a civilian airport who was a surgeon that did these surgeries. He was making a killing at these. I asked him if there was any mental health evaluations/counseling done prior to the drugs and surgery. He looked at me like I had 3 heads and said, "Why in the hell would I make sure they do that, that is my living!" BTW - he clipped a sailboat on landing, and shattered both arms soon after this convo, and never could do surgery again...
Third - I have known 3 people that have gone through the surgery. All 3 were absolutely miserable. One of the things that isn't talked about much is just how sick they are the rest of their lives from all the stuff that is done. 2 of the 3 committed suicide. 1 had been in the hospital for a solid 5 years after the re-assignment surgery. The 3rd has never been happy, and has no problem telling anybody that they are miserable and this wasn't the solution they were looking for. None of the 3 ever had a relationship after the surgery...

LT Brad McInnis I call BS. I don't know a single T that doesn't know the WPATH standards. You should here the cries of gate keeping in the community over seeing a psychologist.
