Lee served in WW II and I believe he was a PFC and remained as such by choice. I saw his home in Tucson on one of my traveling days. Thanks for this great share of one of the good guys.

Yes, Lee Marvin was a PFC in the USMC during WWII in the Pacific Theter of Operations and did receive a Purple Heart. He said, I hate to tell You where I was shot, it was in the ass and it wan't because I was headed the wrong way either ! The bullet that hit Him traveled through his butt as He lay prone and. had an entrance and exit wound as it traveled right across.

Thank you, my friend Sgt (Join to see) for posting the music video of WWII Army veteran Lee Marvin performing "I was born under a wandrin' star"
I was born under a wandrin' star originally written by Alan J. Lerner and Frederick Loewe for the stage musical Paint Your Wagon in 1951.
Lyrics
I was born under a wandrin' star
I was born under a wandrin' star
Wheels are made for rolling, mules are made to pack
I've never seen a sight that didn't look better looking back
I was born under a wandrin' star
Mud can make you prisoner and the plains can bake you dry
Snow can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry
Home is made for coming from, for dreams of going to
Which with any luck will never come true
I was born under a wandrin' star
I was born under a wandrin' star
Do I know where hell is, hell is in hello
Heaven is goodbye forever, its time for me to go
I was born under a wandrin' star
A wandrin' wandrin' star
(Mud can make you prisoner and the plains can bake you dry)
(Soap can burn your eyes, but only people make you cry)
(Home is made for coming from, for dreams of going to)
(Which with any luck will never come true)
(I was born under a wandrin' star)
(I was born under a wandrin' star)
When I get to heaven, tie me to a tree
For I'll begin to roam and soon you'll know where I will be
I was born under a wandrin' star
A wandrin' wandrin' star"
