Well Lori Robinson has reached the highest rank in the USAF SPC Robert Coventry. Kudos to her for her assignment at NORTHCOM and NORAD.
Many years ago Ann Dunwoody was a full U.S.Army General who commanded U.S. Army Material Command after she received her fourth star on November 14, 2008.
I was in HQDA, G-4 when she came in to be the Army's Deputy Chief of Staff, G-4 (logistics) in 2005. I was tagged to sit with her husband when she was welcomed officially at a ceremony at the Pentagon Marina. Her husband Colonel Craig Brotchie, USAF (retired) had a special operations background which was why I was tagged to talk with him. Ann Dunwoody currently lives with her husband in Tampa, Florida where her brother and sister live, and where her husband currently serves on the board of the Special Operations Warrior Foundation.
After she retired in 2012 she served on the board for the not-for-profit company which terminated me in June 2013 LMI. As far as I know she is an upstanding officer. I was terminated based on my disabilities as the Affordable Care Act was being implemented.
As many people know, I am a member of the USMA class of 1980 which was the first class to include women. USNA and USAFA also included women in that year in their respective classes of midshipmen and cadets

LTC Stephen C.
LTC Stephen F., I may be wrong, but I think that the article is trying to convey that one of the unified combatant commands trumps an Army command.

LTC Stephen F.
LTC Stephen C. - It is a task and purpose article so in their benighted attempt to claim that a unified command trumps other assignments. Point of fact the Chief of Staff or equivalent is the highest ranking 4 star in each service and that is a staff billet..
