Good evening CW5 Jack Cardwell and thank you for your Post on the M-1 Rifle! The USAF employed the Carbine version of the famous M-1 and it had all the fundamental characteristics of the M-1, but a little smaller and lighter... I had to qualify twice with the M-1 Carbine, once in Basic Training and once in my 3rd year... I only rated as a Marksman in basic, but a Sharpshooter a few years later... Nice rifle, but when one is repairing aircraft navigation equipment on a flightline somewhere in the world, the M-1 Carbine was a bit large... However, It was a great rifle over all...
