I read a report some time back that autopsies revealed than nearly 100% of males had prostate cancer. It is not if, but when. Brachytherapy works. GET TESTED REGULARLY!

If you see two hands on your shoulders, it's time to be concerned.

Oh my! That kind of news fills me with dread. I am now almost 50 (in 6 months) so I will be in prime target population.

SSgt Robert Marx - Just get your PSA tests. If caught early, things can turn out fine.

I thought this was a strange statement COL Mikel J. Burroughs "The number of deadly metastatic prostate cancer cases increased considerably in the last decade, potentially due to a recent decrease in the number of men screened for disease, according to a new study."
Decades ago similar language was used for the increase in breast cancer among women.
I understand the increase in breast cancer among men has increased and most men never realized they needed to be checked for breast cancer if they were at higher than average risk for it.
Since I joined the Army in 1974 I have checked for prostate cancer every year. After I left the military in 2008 I have been checked annually.
I understand why long-term uninsured men have not been checked for prostate cancer but most of us are familiar with the risks.

LTC Stephen F. There are a lot of young men out there that have family members that have been affected by this and they need to start testing before they hit the ages I mentioned above. I started at age 38! Thanks for your comments on breast cancer for men. It never crossed my mind, but I've been hearing more about it recently!

Thank you for mentioning Breast Cancer, LTC Stephen Ford. I became aware of a couple hard spots in my breasts, and went to the doctor to have it checked. On the same day I made the appointment, my brother sent me an Instant Message, telling me he had been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. My test came out negative, and the lumps were believed to be caused by one of my heart medications. But it was a real eye-opening situation.

I know some people who are afraid of the exam. It should be done regularly with annual physicals. These wellness physicals are free because of the stipulations in the Affordable Care Act. The PSA blood work has to be done yearly to catch the early signs of cancer.
