That is an interesting statistic PO3 Steven Sherrill. I hope that the sample is not accurate across all of VA.
In any event I hope that all VA clinicians are well versed and compassionate when it comes to prevent suicide.
Every time I visit a VAMC or clinic I am asked questions about my mental state. I had one appointment a couple weeks ago at the Fort Detrick, Maryland VA clinic an I have two appointments next week at Martinsburg, WV VAMC.
My experience in the Martinsburg, WV network has been consistently good since 2013 when I first began to be treated by them.

LTC Stephen F. There is not doubt that the VA is in need of a major bureaucratic overhaul. The providers are working in a government facility, when private practice is usually more lucrative financially. So I am of the opinion that the providers genuinely do care about those they serve. The problem is making sure proper training in these aspects is kept up to date, and making sure that those in need are able to see those providers in a timely manner.

PO3 Steven Sherrill That is why we need to fix this problem acorss the country with the efforts of Veterans March on America (happening tomorrow), Victory for Veterans Foundation BIKE22 starting on 2 July 2017 and covering 90 cities across the 48 indigenous States and going all the way to 18 August 2018 ending in Washington DC on the Capital Steps, and the RIDE22 with motorcycle rally rides beign conducted simultaneously in all 50 States on 30 June 2018. Partnering with Great NonProfits like Objective Zero and many more. We as Veterans, Service Members, Military Family Members, and Civilian Supports and Recruiters should never give up and never stop trying to fix the failures of our government when it comes to our Veterrans past, present, and future. Mark my words there are great veterans and civilians today that are doing the right things within our VA System - we salute those individuals and thank them for what they are doing. It the individuals that are doing good when no one is looking! Follow us on Victory for Veterans Foundation Group Page, join us as a volunteer - make a difference!

And they wonder why no one trust them to take care of their medical problems.
