It was 1967, T was a young A1C work in the TUAC with a Lt Potter who was a RF4C recon pilot. At about 1am he said he had to go fly a recon mission over North Vietnam to the film the next day's targets. The last thing he said was "see you tomorrow Airman Momaney." When I came in the next night I asked were Lt Potter was. Everyone looked at me and said "haven't you heard, he was shot down last night." I was really upset by this. His remains were never found and to this day I were a bracelet with his name on it. The recon pilots were "alone and unafraid." Maybe some day Lt Potter will come home.

Good morning CMSgt John Momaney - You were blessed to know him - never forget him and pass on to others any stories that you may have of him. And yes, he needs to come home to rest. Thank you for your additions.

The NVA was not intimidated and continued the war until the tiny 5th world nation of rice-eaters eventually won over the greatest, most free, and most powerful nation in the world. \America was willing to sacrifice 58,000+ service members KIA, in a half hearted effort of limited objective and limited effort on a false cause. There is something to be learned from that misadventujre.

I don't think we learned a thing Tom - look at our current track record against the "JV Team" in the East.

"A North Vietnamese newspaper declares that the country will not be intimidated by U.S. bombing threats."

Threats are rarely as successful as the fact itself.
