It's an awful day to revisit, SGT (Join to see). Anyone who was alive and old enough remembers exactly where they were and what they were doing when they heard the horrible news.
I was in the ninth grade, and we were outside for PT playing volleyball (November weather in Jacksonville, FL is usually quite mild). We were told to come inside the gymnasium, where I think the entire school had been assembled. The principal then told us and everyone simply stared at each other in shock.
I honestly don't remember if we stayed at school or were sent home, but I think we stayed. Back then, instant notification didn't exist, for parents or school bus drivers.

I was working with my father, trying to get the roof on the new ski resort on Mt. Ashland, Oregon. We were fighting the weather and needed as much time on the job as possible. We were driving up the mountain when we saw a lot of vehicles coming down. We stopped one of the guys and he told us what happened. We turned around and went home. Sat and watched as the event unfolded.
Very vivid memory even after all those years.

I had driven 135 miles to Des Moines for a job interview, had just parked and heard the news on the radio, I just pulled out and went home.
