Thanks for reminding us SP5 Mark Kuzinski that President Lyndon Johnson authorizes a series of measures “to assist morale in South Vietnam and show the Communists [in North Vietnam] we still mean business” after the Gulf of Tonkin incidents.
It is unfortunate that we did not "stick to our guns [bombs, rockets, etc]" over the following years.

Since we were there we should have done it right. Too bad the politicians who started it would not let us win.

Also the MACV Rules of engagement in Viet Nam , were sure appreciated by the enemy, He had no such restraints. The war being micro-managed in Washington sure didn't help. When its politicians instead of General's and Admirals making what should be battlefield decisions there is a real problem.

"Gulf of Tonkin Incident" one of the most confused in History. Misuse/Lack of Understanding of how to use the Radar by Scopewatchers on the US Navy Ships, A Special Operation by the South Vietnamese Military and the Counter by the North.

SP5 Mark Kuzinski - If you ever get the chance, The Turner Joy is still afloat as a Tourist Attraction in Bremerton, WA.

Not real sure the Tonkin Gulf incident ever happened. It did cause us to be on Yankee Station for about 49 days. A miserable 49 days.

There are so many stories out on this incident - True or false. So very hard to say!
