Race, Discipline, and Safety at U.S. Public Schools

At the risk of being misunderstood, I am going to comment. At the age I am, now, and having put my child through public school and public college, the article seems to be hedging current facts as a true-all reason for something that points to racial discrimination. My experiences with the public school system post civil rights encouraged his father and myself to put him in a private environment, for school and college and to vote for the voucher program that would give that federal monetary allowance for him to be used for the school of our choice. When the bullies, gang bangers, and drug Lord's started taking over, supportive teachers and students/parents who could finance the change gave them the public schools. Against my son's father's wishes I kept him in the public system so he would get the terror's edge needed to deter him from the environment as an adult. His father was there to bail me out if things went sideways. The beauty of not having a socialist government is non-parents-of-color, affluent parents, hard working parents, good teachers, good students, and personal bank accounts can't be forced to tolerate environments they don't want to be in.

My son went through public school that had a 20percent African-American,5 percent Native Americans, Mexican Americans and Asian Americans the rest were Caucasian, there was very little racial tension.
