That was certainly a major step to make pistols a lot more functional.and far easier to reload and fire multiple shots. Firearms to that point had great limitations, that cured a lot of the problems. Improvement made alter so rounds could be loaded without even rotating a cylinder improved things even more. Once Yo could swing a cylinder open devices such as speed loaders allowed You to load 6 roads all at once instead of one at at time. In any case revolvers didn't have a massive number of moving parts, were easy to load and discharge. I see that step by Colt as a major advance in handguns that got even better as time marched on !

LTC Stephen F. Great addition. The Captain's wheel story is classic! I enjoyed the video, especially the pictures of the Long barrel Colt revolver.
