"On June 18,1977, Johnny Rotten and Paul Cook of the Sex Pistols were stabbed and beaten when they were attacked in a car park outside a London pub. They objected to the Pistols' anti-monarchist song 'God Save the Queen'. The next day, another member of the Pistols, Paul Cook, was beaten by a gang armed with iron pipes."

In Europe there is along history of crime against artists and authors - especially those who have shocked the culture.

I don't either, Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen, and I'm glad I don't! It's kind of like trying to forget Roseanne Barr's rendition of the U.S. National Anthem. You can't!

What’s paradoxical, Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen, is I don’t object to Jimi Hendrix’s version of the National Anthem. I’ve watched the video of him playing it at Woodstock in 1969, and he doesn’t seem to be playing with an irreverent attitude. He seems quite the contrary.
Unknown to many, Hendrix served in the 101st Airborne Division and received an honorable discharge. However, his time in the service was fraught with problems!
All in all, though, I still like his version of the National Anthem!
