Thank you, my friend CW5 Jack Cardwell for sharing the music video of violinist Daniel Carwile with his wife Amy Carwile on guitar on the evening of April 5th, 2014 at Bob and Danita's in Atherton, CA.
The epic weekend of marathon jamming was a culmination of Daniel and Amy Carwile flying from their home in Lexington, Kentucky to Southern California, road tripping from San Diego, and ending up at Bob and Danita's in Atherton, CA.
This video is unique amongst the 8 that were shot at this particular jam session as there is a bit of experimenting and discussion about back up chords before "Snow Shoes" is played all the way through. Two versions are tested, a brief vote is taken, and then the tune is played in it's entirety. Fiddle jam democracy in action.
The delight on Anne's face upon learning a new way to play an old tune says it all.
Scott asked Daniel where he had gotten the particular chords, Daniel replied..."That's just the way I've always heard it."
The "Rex" that Bob refers to at the end of the video is legendary Texas back up picker, Rex Gillentine.
Audio courtesy of Stephen Schauer.
Special thanks to Mojave Audio."
