Thanks, my fried SGT John " Mac " McConnell for reminding us of the horribly sad event of the Texas A&M Bonfire Collapse that occurred at 2:42 A.M. on November 18, 1999.
Video recordings capture sights and sounds but they can't capture the smells associated with these events.

Texas A&M built a beautiful memorial on the site of the bonfire collapse. Aggies gather there every year on the anniversary of the collapse to pay tribute to those who died there in 1999.

I recall hearing of a massive bonfire by Aggies run amuck. I was the NCO of Flight Clearance at MCAS New River at the time.
