Our distribution of overt conventional forces and capabilities in the Middle east has multiple options should we pull out our forces from and support for Qatar [ruling faction firmly established post-WWI].
Neighboring UAE has much more capability and shoreline to support our basing that Qatar. UAE would be happy to expand our basing rights in that nation, most likely - base on previous statements.
To be honest I hope Qatar's feet are "held to the fire" for their support to radical Sunni groups including ISIS.
Hopefully taking a firm stand here will send a message to Saudi Arabia which has been battling extremists in its own military and intelligence services for some time.
PO1 William "Chip" Nagel lets see how this plays out.
I am glad my old friends and USMA classmates General Joe Votel and General Raymond Thomas ae the Commanders of CENTCOM and SOCOM respectively.

LTC Stephen F. I Don't Have any "Insiders" Knowledge Anymore but I have every reason to believe that Qatar has More in Common with the Old School Traditional "Muslim Brotherhood" Which was More a Socialist and Contrary to the Name Almost Secular Political Movement. Now Saudi Arabia May have corrected the Problem but that was the Birth Place of Most of the Sunni Wahhabi Extremism and the Madrasas they were Running In Pakistan I still fault them for all this Mess. I think that the Success of the Qatar Royal Families Propaganda Machine AlJazeera was a Threat to Their Neighbors and a Successful Political Tool. Needless to say the Big Boy with the US in Their Pocket is Beating Up on Qatar Now.
