Canadian Liberals (Canadian Democrats left of HRC but not as extreme as Bernie Sanders) are mad that this Canadian General said that Canadian SOF can fire first in some circumstances to save lives. Interesting story. Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau won making a campaign promise to remove Canadian Jets from Iraq but he tripled the SOF there in Iraq.

LTC (Join to see) It is ludicrous for politicians or wonks of any sort to attack Canadian Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Jonathan Vance for testifying before a parliamentary committee about the actions of Canadian armed forces in the war against ISIL: “We are allowed to deal with a threat that is emerging that would overwhelm those we are working with, or ourselves, if we didn’t deal with it,” Vance said after the committee meeting.
He cited as an example a situation where Kurdish forces might not have the weaponry to destroy an ISIL suicide bomber driving a heavily armoured vehicle. Canadian troops have been pictured with anti-tank missiles in Iraq.
“That is the definition of defensive fire,” Vance said. “We don’t have to be shot at first. We can take the first shot if it is to save lives.”
