Why You Need ‘Matter,’ the New Open Standard for Smart Home Devices

Seems like a good idea. We already have many standards applied to electricity without seeming to create problems. It would be much easier to update and improve, then having to stay up to date with the predictable revisions, updates, improvements, that eventually probably require new hardware . . . looking at the current model of "variety" and how it works.

This sounds a hell of a lot like a tech version of a land grab. They are arguing for the benefits of having a Monopoly - without even having to fight and win one. They want us idiots to just freely give it to them.

I will admit I have just a tiny bit of Luddite in me. But this just seems like a bad idea.
