Thanks Maj Marty Hogan for letting us know that January 7 is the anniversary of the birth of American novelist, short story writer, folklorist, and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston who is best known for her contributions to African-American literature, her portrayal of racial struggles in the American South, and works documenting her research on Haitian voodoo.
Rest in peace Zora Neale Hurston.

She was an amazing American short story author. Her work as part of the Harlem Renaissance propelled African-American writing into the general consciousness; further, her writing mixed with others including Langston Hughes, helped diffuse and eventually to triumph over the hopelessness engineered through the horrific loss of life from the Great War.
