Set Points, Intelligence and my choice for US President. Go Navy.

I joined the Canadian Forces twice in my life.
Both times Fate intervened.
It is interesting how things have a way of shakin’ out.
My intention both times was to become an intelligence officer.
I have a very analytical mind. I understand systems. I am very practical and methodical by nature.
I love that now I work with military - from outside the system. Much more wiggle room.
Why would someone like me be interested in something like tarot?
It appeals to the historian in me (my first degree), it appeals to the teacher in me (second degree) to the artist and strong visual learner that I am and is a way to harness the deeply intuitive ability I have.
It is a way to bring forth what both the conscious and subconscious minds know.
It is collecting, analyzing, synthesizing a large amount of raw data, making it actionable and doing so quickly.
I have to understand the symbols, recognize the patterns, interpret the context and the subcontexts, see the past, present and possible outcomes.
Tarot is an amazing tool and I use it well.
Check out a post I wrote not long ago, The Four of Swords here.
I can give you discrete reports – like an intelligence report – on any topic you give me; either a specific question/issue, or you can ask for a general current situation report.
I do the reading, write the report and submit it to you within 24 hours or less.
Why do I think this is important?
The cards don’t lie. So my source is incredibly accurate.
And, here’s what I know about leadership.
Within a military context I would have to submit my reports to a commanding officer and possibly report in person with a concise, timely, relevant report outlining next steps for whatever the situation is.
That’s what you get.
Here’s what else I know.
The higher you go up into the chain of command the more difficult it is for leaders to ask for help.
They really aren’t supposed to let on that they don’t have the answers, can’t even identify the real problem, can’t move forward.
An outside perspective that is accurate and timely is a strategic advantage.
An advantage that is discrete? – Better.
Anyone can ask me for their TREP (Tarot Report), but I’m making a point about leaders because this is a problem area.
The reason I started doing two day coaching retreats was for the same reason – discretion.
Better to leave town, or at least go across town where no one in “the office” is going to see you so you don’t lose the advantage gained from your outside source.
Only perception?
Perhaps, but in leadership, perception matters a lot.
“So often we hear about brilliant people who are capable of bringing about transformative change. In my experience that has never been more true than with Angela. Having worked with her, I know first hand what an extraordinary resource she is for any organization that needs to develop truly world class leaders, and what an indispensable asset she is for senior leaders who want to operate at their absolute best. Angela’s work transcends business specifics and in a powerful way, breaks right through the core limitations that hold good leaders back from being great ones. Having experienced it first hand, I can wholeheartedly say that her work is truly transformative.” Andrew Sispoidis, Executive Director, Center for Global Information Security
To get the questions answered, to isolate the problem and fix it, to determine the next steps…this is critical.
This becomes an issue of ownership for leaders.
A shout out here.
The US presidential election culminates in seven days.
And this makes me incredibly glad to be Canadian.
I think you guys (Americans) are between a rock and a hard place.
If I had to pick, my choice of US president would be former US Navy Seal Jocko Willink.
Read - Extreme Ownership; Jocko Willink and Leif Babin.
Jocko for president. Absolutely. There’s the kind of Commander-in-Chief you need.
Bengazi wouldn’t have went down that way. Extortion 17 wouldn’t have happened.
The level of transformation that MUST happen within the US military would actually happen.
And the worldwide movement he’s started that is making people take personal responsibility and change their lives for the better could become the new norm.
So many more people would understand the connection between discipline = freedom.
“Get After It”, would be whispered in many a person’s deep sleep.
GOOD.
If you are not one of Jocko’s Troopers and listen to his podcast yet….Go here.
The big man who encourages the rest of the mush cookies of the world to get up and do their squats at 4:34 am brings me to my next point.
Set points.
You see these at the gym often. You have likely bumped into one of your own.
These are unreasonable, illogical, nonsensical mental blocks that you can throw yourself against until you realize and begin to understand the inner issue you have – the belief that you are holding – that is creating this block in what YOU KNOW you should be able to do.
So frustrating.
To OWN YOUR MENTAL DOMAIN (that’s a seminar I teach) you must understand this mechanism.
What we believe determines 100% of our behaviours (what we think, feel and do) and our behaviours determine our outcomes.
BELIEF BEHAVIOURS OUTCOMES
A set point is showing you – thank you very much for the information – where you have a faulty belief.
Start to think about it in this way.
Stop being frustrated that you can’t.
Step it back to you.
Own the situation you are in.
Assess – what must I believe in order to get this outcome?
Change up your behaviours. (Think something new, Feel something new, Do something new)
Get better outcome.
Rinse and repeat.
As with everything else, the books I write, the training I do, services I provide; it would be unethical and selfish of me to NOT tell you – hey, I know this, or I have this, or I can do this and it can be a benefit to you.
TREP – cost $88.00 CAD
Send your issue here.
To your success,
Angela

Thanks for an amusing share COL Mikel J. Burroughs. Anybody who relies on Tarot cards deserves what they will receive after death which may well be quicker than average.
Drafting a presidential selection one week out is a fools errand.
The President of the USA is the hardest job in the world. Everybody who applies takes themselves and their family and friends through the blender of "news" and pundits.
For humor look at pictures of Obama 8 years ago and today. He has aged more than many in terms of his appearance. This is not the Picture of Dorian Gray in that POTUS Obama recognizes that his dreams have largely gone unfulfilled.

Exactly. But how many choose to use ungodly means to try to poke their noses into things that the Bible warns us against, and thinks that God doesn't notice?
How many think that they can pick and choose their own way to heaven, and that the Bible is only good when it agrees with their life style?
How many think that there is no God, but jump at the chance to use things that the Bible says not to use?
Or thinks that Satan worship is very cool, but say that the Bible is just a phony screed, which tries to limit their lords' sway?
I could go on and on, but, simply, there are those that believe in the Bible, and those whom eschew it.
And there are some that seem to be Christians, but they use the Bible when it suits them, and are the non Christians that think that they can have it all.
To be, or not to be, that IS the question.
King James Bible 2 Peter 2:21:
For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.
Thank you for posting your thought, my friend.

Cpl George Crab -
I couldn't agree more. Pretty bad when the Commander and Chief can't decide if he's a Muslim or a Christian. I guess it depends on who he's talking to!!!
