Thank you my friend and brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see) for your diligence in posting our friend, former RallyPoint member emeritus, and brother-in-Christ Colonel Mikel Burroughs VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day for Wednesday, March 1, 2023.

Topic “Deal Day!”
I have been cool under pressure for decades in the face of death for myself and others, being shot at, in vehicular accidents, being evicted a few times, my faith-in-God challenged and many other challenges.
1. By God's grace I have been blessed with peace of mind in the most trying of circumstances and situations since I was young. I have been able to pull people out of car wrecks [as a teenager and young man] deal with life threatening situations [knives pulled on me with intention to harm], death of loved ones, etc.
2. By God's grace HE has motivated, me even before I had a personal relationship with HIM, to risk my safety and life to save people in car wrecks, to deal with hang-fire mortar rounds, to go down range to check on unexploded hand grenades, unexploded C-4 charges, and so much more.
3. In general, God does not hold us responsible for situations we are confronted with, endure, or deal with.
4. HE does hold us responsible for what we say and do in response and HE reminds us that thoughts are equivalent to deeds.
5. Leaders and spouses that try to change others to meet their standards are woefully misguided. The best way to bring changes in others is to change our self and demonstrate respect to all others.
6. Words are cheap. It is much better to demonstrate love, respect and compliments in action that merely to say something pleasant.

Quotes:
1. Albert Camus 'The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion'
2. Jeannette Walls 'Whoever coined the phrase 'a man's got to play the hand that was dealt him' was most certainly one piss-poor bluffer.'
3. Kate Adie 'I keep telling myself to calm down, to take less of an interest in things and not to get so excited, but I still care a lot about liberty, freedom of speech and expression, and fairness'
4. Napoléon Bonaparte 'A leader is a dealer in hope.
5. George Chuvalo 'Face your problems head on. Do what you have to do to take care of it. Develop a good work ethic.'
6. Jim Rohn 'There are two ways to face the future. One way is with apprehension; the other is with anticipation.'
7. Lisa Bonet 'Everyone has their story. Everyone has issues. You have to face your fears.'
8. Shannon L. Alder 'Courage doesn’t happen when you have all the answers. It happens when you are ready to face the questions you have been avoiding your whole life.'

Scriptures
a. James 1:22-25 ESV ‘But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.’
a. Philippians 4:11-13 ESV 'Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low, and I know how to abound. In any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through him who strengthens me.’
b. Galatians 5:22-24 ESV 'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.
c. Romans 12:17-18 'Repay no one evil for evil, but give thought to do what is honorable in the sight of all. If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
d. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 ESV 'Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies, but test everything; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil. Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.'
e. Hebrews 9:22-28 ESV’ Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. Thus it was necessary for the copies of the heavenly things to be purified with these rites, but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these. For Christ has entered, not into holy places made with hands, which are copies of the true things, but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. Nor was it to offer himself repeatedly, as the high priest enters the holy places every year with blood not his own, for then he would have had to suffer repeatedly since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment, so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.
f. Jude 1:22-23 'And have mercy on those who doubt; save others by snatching them out of the fire; to others show mercy with fear, hating even the garment stained by the flesh
g. 2 Corinthians 5:10-12 ESV For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. Therefore, knowing the fear of the Lord, we persuade men, but we are made manifest to God; and I hope that we are made manifest also in your consciences. We are not again commending ourselves to you but are giving you an occasion to be proud of us, so that you will have an answer for those who take pride in appearance and not in heart.'

Come Follow Me
“This generation is an evil generation; it asks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah” (Luke 11:29).
Jonah was the stereotypical doomsday prophet proclaiming, “The end is near. Repent!” Francis stood out from the crowd, too. Assuredly there were many who ignored or ridiculed him. But he was extraordinarily effective in getting people to follow him, a charismatic attraction that continues to our own day. The sincerity with which he lived his faith must have had a great deal to do with that. His biographer writes: “The truth of his teaching was brought home to people by the simplicity of his way of life, and two years after his own conversion several men were drawn to follow his example of penitence, and they left everything in order to join him.” Not all of us are called to give dramatic, public witness to God’s word. We are all called, however, to live the Gospel in our lives. And in doing so, we can show others the truth and beauty of the Good News.

Saint David of Wales

Saint of the Day for March 1
(d. March 1, 589)

Saint David of Wales’ Story
David is the patron saint of Wales and perhaps the most famous of British saints. Ironically, we have little reliable information about him.
It is known that he became a priest, engaged in missionary work, and founded many monasteries, including his principal abbey in southwestern Wales. Many stories and legends sprang up about David and his Welsh monks. Their austerity was extreme. They worked in silence without the help of animals to till the soil. Their food was limited to bread, vegetables and water.
In about the year 550, David attended a synod where his eloquence impressed his fellow monks to such a degree that he was elected primate of the region. The episcopal see was moved to Mynyw, where he had his monastery, now called St. David’s. He ruled his diocese until he had reached a very old age. His last words to his monks and subjects were: “Be joyful, brothers and sisters. Keep your faith, and do the little things that you have seen and heard with me.”
Saint David is pictured standing on a mound with a dove on his shoulder. The legend is that once while he was preaching a dove descended to his shoulder and the earth rose to lift him high above the people so that he could be heard. Over 50 churches in South Wales were dedicated to him in pre-Reformation days.

Reflection
Were we restricted to hard manual labor and a diet of bread, vegetables and water, most of us would find little reason to rejoice. Yet joy is what David urged on his brothers as he lay dying. Perhaps he could say that to them—and to us—because he lived in and nurtured a constant awareness of God’s nearness. For, as someone once said, “Joy is the infallible sign of God’s presence.” May his intercession bless us with the same awareness!

Amen my brother-in-Christ LTC (Join to see)
I expect that you have learned a great deal through the ups and downs of life that you have experienced. Bo doubt that you are inspirational leader when called to be for your family and any other one who you are responsible for leading, guiding, or providing advice to. Hopefully, you have become more compassionate and kinder in response to the involuntary changes you have been forced to adapt to. People tend to grow more reflective and compassionate or more bitter in response to changes thrust upon them. 'Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified.’ [1 John 1:2-4 ESV] my brother-in-Christ LTC (Join to see)

I pray LORD that YOU open the eyes and ears of each adopted son and daughter of God who reads or listens to this prayer. Far too many seem to be confused about eschatology and the end times which were initiated when the LORD Jesus ascended to the Father and the Holy Spirit began to dwell with the soul of each and every adopted child of God. ‘but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.’ [1 Peter 1:19-21 ESV]

Fools rush headlong into danger seemingly oblivious to the risks, while the prudent avoids unnecessary risks. ‘'The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.’ [Proverbs 22:3 ESV]. The wise take time and put sufficient effort to evaluate, assess and count the cost before embarking on an enterprise or taking a long journey. Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish.’ [Luke 14:27-30 ESV]

I pray LORD that YOU bless each of the elected leaders, legislators, appointed officials, and judges throughout the USA, as well as Australia, Canada, Mexico, India, Europe, Africa, Philippines, Japan, Korea, Central and South America] with an increase of goodness and compassion. I pray that YOU motivate each one to use their intelligence and knowledge to help their constituents deal with the difficulties they are facing.

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Wednesday night and each awake refreshed and healthy on Thursday morning.
